XUEBIN ZHANG (Climate Change Scientist): I have been studying climate change for more than 20 years so my more recent work is related to the changes in weather and climate change, and in particular try to give some ideas and try to develop tools and guidance for the adaptation of climate change in Canada.

XUEBIN ZHANG (Climate Change Scientist): My first work with Environment Canada was a look at long-term changes in temperatureand precipitation. At the time, I found that in the northwestern part of Canada we see increase in temperature but decrease in other parts of Canada. And then I start to think, well what is happening? I need to understand it. So then, from there all the way to now I’ve been working on the similar and related issues.

XUEBIN ZHANG (Climate Change Scientist): We need to prepare ourselves for the future. The climate is changing and it’s not going to go away, so we need to prepare ourselves for the change in climate to adapt to it. We cannot hide anywhere. There’s no place to hide.

XUEBIN ZHANG (Climate Change Scientist): And, secondly, we need to do something to reduce the emissions and to make these kinds of changes smaller and slower so that we can better adapt to it.
