Canada’s Top Ten Weather Stories of 2019 clearly show once again that Canadians are experiencing the costs of weather-related extremes first hand, from destructive hurricanes, record flooding, snow storms, extreme cold, record heat, tornadoes, forest fires and poor air quality. As Canada is warming at nearly twice the global rate, with parts of western and northern Canada warming three times the global average, extreme weather events will continue to occur more frequently.

This year, every region of the country was affected by extreme weather or climate events that directly impacted Canadians and our economy. These events resulted in millions of dollars of property damage and billions of lost dollars for our economy.
