2025 Canadian Science Policy Conference – Research Infrastructure Symposium Report

Laboratories Canada, in collaboration with TRIUMF and the Ocean Tracking Network, hosted a symposium on research infrastructure at the 2025 Canadian Science Policy Conference in Ottawa on November 19. Through three panels, the symposium explored how Canada can build a more coordinated, competitive, and resilient research infrastructure ecosystem, addressing Arctic challenges, the value of global large-scale facilities, and insights from European models. An interactive session capped the event with a focus on maximizing the impact of national infrastructures. Informed by these discussions, Laboratories Canada authored a report published by the Canadian Science Policy Centre, calling for action to better position Canada’s research infrastructures as catalysts for collaboration, innovation, science diplomacy, and national resilience amid global uncertainty.
