Northern Contaminants Program
October 8-10, 2019
MacBride Museum, Whitehorse, Yukon
The NCP Results Workshop, held every other year, is the main venue for Canadian scientists, Northerners and policy-makers to focus attention on the breadth of issues related to contaminants from long-range sources in Canada's North, to learn about and discuss the latest results, current state of knowledge and policy implications, and to plan for future initiatives.
The 2019 Northern Contaminants Program (NCP) Results Workshop is taking place October 8-10 in Whitehorse, Yukon at the MacBride Museum (1124 Front St, Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada, Y1A 1A4). The Results Workshop will provide a multidisciplinary forum to learn about, discuss, and share results and knowledge on a broad range of topics that highlight both ongoing and emerging contaminant-related issues in Northern and Arctic regions. Sessions spotlight NCP-based activities, science and Indigenous knowledge in the North, introduce emerging contaminants of concern in the Arctic such as microplastics and perfluorinated compounds, and highlight the local to international collaborations fostered by the NCP. There will also be engagement opportunities for the local community including high school and college students including an interactive Science Fair.
